During the winter months Filtrine has to pull from the electrical grid so Filtrine signed up with Constellation, an Exelon Company. Constellation is providing NewMix® Renewable Energy Certificates (REC) to Filtrine. Each REC represents 1 megawatt (MWh) of renewable energy which can be paired with electricity.

According to their 2019 Prospective Product Content Label, the Green-e Energy Certified New Renewables in NewMix® for Filtrine are made up of 100% wind generated by facilities throughout the US that have been in commercial operation within the last 15 years.

The US Department of Energy/Energy Information Administration reports that the typical mix of US energy sources in 2017 includes 30% coal, 20% nuclear, 32% natural gas, 7% large hydroelectric, 6% wind, 2% biomass and solar 1%.

Constellation states that “NewMix® is Green-e Energy certified and meets the environmental and consumer-protection standards set forth by the non-profit Center for Resource Solutions.”

Using wood chips for heating, a solar array for generating electricity and buying electricity on the grid created by wind, Filtrine has demonstrated its commitment to supporting renewal energy.
