The HCAI (formerly OSHPD) Special Seismic Certification Preapproval (OSP) is a voluntary program for review and preapproval of Special Seismic Certifications to be used in health facilities construction in California.

How Many of the Manufacturer’s Models Have to Be Tested?

HCAI (formerly OSHPD) requires:

  • Testing of at least two units (typically a small & largest/heaviest units) and
  • Verification of similarities for interpolated units”

Which Filtrine Chiller Models Were Tested?

Filtrine chiller Model PCP-200-33A-WP-OSP (shown on left in photo above at the OSHPD testing site) was rigid-base mounted to the shake table interface plate with six (6) 3/8-inch diameter Grade 5 bolts.

Filtrine chiller Model PCP-3000-330A-WP-OSP (shown above on right) was rigid-base mounted to the shake table interface plate with ten (10) 1/2-inch diameter Grade 5 bolts. For each mounting bolt, a 1-inch diameter pipe was placed under the channel and the mounting bolt was passed through the pipe in order to prevent crushing of the base rail channel. The shake table interface frame was mounted to the shake table using M12 threaded rod.
