Ultraviolet (UV) water sterilization is the safe alternative to chlorine for drinking water, storage tanks, ingredient chillers or pools. It is also highly effective in food processing or rainwater recovery systems. In Filtrine’s ultraviolet sterilizers, called the Steri Flo series, the UV radiation with a wave length of 2,536 angstrom, is produced from a low pressure mercury lamp. The lamp is encased in a special high-purity quartz sleeve, immersed in water inside of the stainless steel sterilizing chamber. By regulating the flow of water through this chamber, disease-causing micro-organisms, such as bacteria, algae, spores and viruses are exposed to a dose of at least 40,000μw-sec/cm2, over twice the dosage required to ensure safe drinking water.
Available as a standalone (Filtrine Model S) or, with a pre-filter (Filtrine Model SF) or the Steri Flo Taste Master (Filtrine Model IL-SF-TM) which combines the particulate filter (Model PF) as a pre-filter with the Taste Master® (Model TM) purifier.
UV Steri Flo Sterilizers Overview
Filtrine’s UV Water Sterilizers features an effective germicidal which eliminates micro-organisms that can cause water borne diseases; no chemicals or toxic products; low cost operation because the energy consumption is equal to ordinary fluorescent tubes; easy installation since standard plumbing connections and a grounded electrical outlet are used; and easy maintenance because the quartz sleeve and UV tubes can be cleaned or replaced in minutes.
Also works well as part of a multi-stage purification system, use with the particulate filter for longer-lasting life and/or with the Taste Master purifier for better tasting water.
Filtrine's UV Sterilization Rainwater Recovery System (Filtrine Model RWR IL 10-SF-TM) is also available. It uses a 3-stage treatment process to purify the rainwater. Download the engineering bulletin for more information.
